The brief

After an overnight criminal attack caused approximately £65,000 in damage, Gravel Hill Motor Group needed a more proactive approach to site security and infrastructure. The business wanted stronger deterrence, better evidence capture, reliable Wi-Fi, stable networking and a long-term alternative to relying on overnight security staffing alone.

The challenge

Intruders vandalised a PTZ camera, destroyed additional cameras, cut external pipework and stole air conditioning units for scrap metal. The existing CCTV recorded the aftermath but did not provide proactive protection. Alongside the security issues, the site also suffered constant network instability, poor Wi-Fi coverage, outdated Cat5 cabling, underperforming internet service and productivity issues caused by unreliable systems.

The solution

Smart AI Core rebuilt the network cabinet, replaced legacy hardware with enterprise UniFi networking, upgraded structured cabling, added access points for full-site Wi-Fi coverage and improved the internet stack with 2.5Gb service, Starlink failover and UniFi UMR Enterprise GSM backup. The security layer was upgraded with UniFi Protect AI surveillance, improved night visibility, proactive alerting and takeover of the existing Texecom alarm system with faulty sensors replaced.

The outcome

Gravel Hill Motor Group gained stable networking, full Wi-Fi coverage, stronger AI-driven monitoring, improved alarm reliability, multi-WAN resilience and a cleaner infrastructure base for daily operations. The business reduced recurring network disruption while improving its ability to deter, detect and respond to future incidents before they escalate.
